Call me basic but I all about the #allthingspumpkin train. This month I’m sharing healthy pumpkin recipes I’ve made recently-last week it was pumpkin spice energy bites. This week I have a yummy (and healthy) pumpkin bread plus my homemade pumpkin spice seasoning!
My love for pumpkin goes way back to the 80’s; I’m pretty certain Thanksgiving originally became a favorite holiday only because the pumpkin pie. So yes, when the season even flirts with becoming fall I break out all the pumpkins.
The first fall like temps gave me the itch for a pumpkin bread. The catch is I wanted a delicious pumpkin spice bread with some cleaner ingredients. After a little Pinterest research I decided to create Taste Lovely’s Healthy Pumpkin Bread. The only swap I made was 1 cup almond flour instead of 1 cup whole weat flour and my pumpkin pie spice is DIY. Make sure you pop over to grab her recipe here.
The bread was such a hit. Not dry & full of flavor. Best part, my family loved the recipe too- especially my kids. And if my kids love a healthy bread than that’s a big win!
As for my homemade pumpkin spice? It’s so easy to make, you’ll never need to buy the premade stuff again. A little cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove and all spice. Ok, a lot of cinnamon for me and a little bit of everything else. The best part about making your own is having the ability to adjust the taste or omit an ingredient. I am not a huge fan of all spice- which is why I just use a smedge.
I put this seasoning mix in baked goods, smoothies, pies and sometimes straight into my cup of coffee for added flavor. It is so easy to make and if stored in a dry place will keep for many months (if it lasts that long!)
