healthy is trendy!

This time of year in the Midwest we get all the seasons sometimes in one week. A tease of a beautiful warm 70 degree day followed by snow showers a few days later. Layering for late winter can be a challenge but also fun. It is a time to mix some pieces to create a style to reflect the mixed up weather.

One of my favorite SoCal bloggers layered a t-shirt dress last month with a cardi for some insta-style. I wanted to create a similar look using pieces I own at that are Midwest temperature appropriate.

I paried a favorite sweatshirt dress with a closet staple of a long black cardigan and  black over the knee boots for a dash of #onTrend.

I was having an issue keeping my boots up on bare legs- does that happen to anyone else? Made me kinda regret that my boots did not have the adjustable elastic on the thigh. Thankfully I found a pair of pointelle knit socks to help! They are a little thin but just thick enough to keep OTK boots from falling down when I wear skirts and dresses.

Also, I need to talk a little bit about my new Mom bag. It did not take long to realize I need both my hands when running errands solo with the kids. I really wanted a backpack but I had a few specifica requirements. Needed to be black, big enough for Mom and kid gear and affordable. The kicker was, I wanted it to be real leather too.  After weeks of searching I found a beautiful all leather Sorial Candance backpack at my local TJ Maxx.

After cashing in a gift card, I ended up snagging this for $15! I have been using it for about a month and it’s holding up so well- especially for how much I pack in there. Diapers, snacks, sippy cups, toys, wipes, wallet, cell, makeup… you know, all the Mom neccessities.

  1. Super cute post! And great tip about the socks with you OTK boots. Mine have a drawstring but have stretched out through winter and won’t stay up at all 🙁
