Check out why these 7 hamstring stretches will have a big benefit for your body!
Hello friends! How was your summer? I know it has been a long time! Life has been insane- spent most of June in Europe, July by the pool, and August studying for my Group Fitness Certification (I passed)! My time management skills are striking out all over the place when it comes to taking time for my dear old blog. Sometimes I think I take on too much or get distract too often (hello, home all day with a 2 year old!) – but I do miss this space. I love creating content to share! With the new school year here for my 6 year old, I am trying to treat Style in Shape a little bit more like a business. Thinking, planning and executing ahead. Hopefully I figure this out!
With that out of the way let’s get on to this week’s post!
7 Hamstring Stretches
We should stretch our hamstrings on the regular. Especially if you sit all day on your job. Sitting can create reduced mobility of the hips and pelvis which can result with added pressure to the lower back. By stretching the hamstrings the muscles can better support your back creating less pressure and pain.
If you are a runner, stretching your hamstrings is a MUST. A strong and flexible hamstring muscle can support your body and help prevent injury.
There are lots of ways to stretch your hamstrings and the 7 hamstring stretches are some of my favorites. Two more that aren’t shown is downward facing dog and standing forward fold.
- Seated forward fold
- Side lunge
- Pigeon
- Low runners lunge
- Half Split
- Mermaid
- Happy Baby
Give these stretches a try after a run or even a long day of sitting and tell me what you think!
