healthy is trendy!

Crop tops are normally for warmer weather and surely not for January here in the midwest. Unless of course its a crop top sweater, then it is game on. I happen to own the warmest crop top sweater and it is a favorite I wear year after year.

This chunky knit has a gorgeous texture on the neck and chest and the cream color is the perfect brightness for winter.

I paired my crop sweater with a maxi skirt for my daughter’s recent 1st birthday party. I thought it was a great way to look a little nice for a causal Winter One-derland party we threw at our house. I always forget how toasty I get in this sweater though, for being cropped it sure keeps me warm!

To share the look with you guys, I threw on faux suede tan wedge booties and grabbed my favorite wool bomber jacket. Because guys, it feels so weird to take outfit photos outside in the winter without a coat. Maybe I’ll get over that but for this post, I had to grab a coat for the photos. My coat is about six years old from the Gap. I love the color and cut, it is such a classic staple.

I also love that this outfit is from pieces in my closet. I recently did a HUGE closet purge (babes, you should see the boxes of clothes I need to donate- which I’ve chosen a few women’s charities to donate them too, if I can just get the boxes loaded into my car) and realized I have a lot of great pieces that I need to wear more. I also like the challenge of taking what I already own to create an “in” look. Isn’t that the best part of personal style? Of course I’ve hunted for similar pieces to link up for you girls in case you want to create this look but I encourage you to shop your closet first. I mean why do we buy all these clothes if we it’s not to wear them?
