This time of year in the Midwest we get all the seasons sometimes in one week. A tease of a beautiful warm 70 degree day followed by snow showers a few days later. Layering for late winter can be a challenge but also fun. It is a time to mix some pieces to create a style to reflect the mixed up weather.
One of my favorite SoCal bloggers layered a t-shirt dress last month with a cardi for some insta-style. I wanted to create a similar look using pieces I own at that are Midwest temperature appropriate.
I paried a favorite sweatshirt dress with a closet staple of a long black cardigan and black over the knee boots for a dash of #onTrend.
I was having an issue keeping my boots up on bare legs- does that happen to anyone else? Made me kinda regret that my boots did not have the adjustable elastic on the thigh. Thankfully I found a pair of pointelle knit socks to help! They are a little thin but just thick enough to keep OTK boots from falling down when I wear skirts and dresses.
Also, I need to talk a little bit about my new Mom bag. It did not take long to realize I need both my hands when running errands solo with the kids. I really wanted a backpack but I had a few specifica requirements. Needed to be black, big enough for Mom and kid gear and affordable. The kicker was, I wanted it to be real leather too. After weeks of searching I found a beautiful all leather Sorial Candance backpack at my local TJ Maxx.
After cashing in a gift card, I ended up snagging this for $15! I have been using it for about a month and it’s holding up so well- especially for how much I pack in there. Diapers, snacks, sippy cups, toys, wipes, wallet, cell, makeup… you know, all the Mom neccessities.

Sometimes you buy a sequined skirt with no clue where to wear it but immediately vision a few ways on how to style it! I am sharing today two ways to style a sequined skirt dressy or casual! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Did you participate in my parade workout? I had a bit of trouble keeping up with it while cooking. My hubs came down with the flu so we ended up staying home for Thanksgiving. I some how managed to whip up all our favorites dishes last minute (and I am NOT the chef of the […]
Although October is in full effect, you would never know it with this unseasonably warm weather we’ve had in Dayton. However, the cool, crisp fall air has made an appearance this week and given how late it is in the year – it’s probably here to stay. While this probably means a healthy dose of drizzly rain, gusty winds and trees losing those beautiful leaves to accompany those falling temperatures, it’s not all bad. After all, fall fashion is my favorite and I am looking forward to rocking things like the 5 pieces for fall that I am sharing today […]
Wife. Mom. Boss. A new favorite shirt for a Sunday Funday with the fam in my home city. Enjoyed our little afternoon watching trains, sipping cava and eating tacos in the Cleveland Flats. I like to think part of it is due to my new perspective on conquering it all. Continue reading to learn more! Adam travels quite a bit for work but he was fortunate enough to slow (okay pretty much halt) work travel for most of this year since Lil Miss was born. Last month that travel lull came to an end and I had my first rodeo […]
Here in Southwest Ohio, we have a few more weeks of skin showing shoes. There is no more perfect time than early fall to bust out the (faux) suede shoes, peep toes and open backs! Keep reading to see my current shoe choices! I’m still wearing these perforated mules purchased from Target this past Spring. They are currently trending and at under $35- a shoe you want in your collection! They look so great with jeans and just about anything from a favorite sweater to a casual t-shirt. Next up is a pair if sling back booties I purchased on […]
Happy Labor Day friends! I hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend! We were fortunate to catch a breakfast with some friends that were in town visiting. Then the little man had a birthday party. We also visited a gorgeous sunflower field, enjoyed burgers at a favorite joint and had some fun at Alter Fest (a local festival). Not to mention lots of hang out time at home. It was a pretty perfect weekend! Fall tempted us with her refreshing cool weather earlier this weekend but the last two days it’s been HOT. I did grab a #PSL, so there’s that! Hello […]
I’m not a hoarder of much of anything besides crafting and wardrobe pieces. I’m not kidding when I say I still have the skirt I wore to my high school graduation! I don’t wear it too often because I’m not really a skirt girl. It’s a basic cream colored modest mini skirt from Express that is such a wardrobe staple that I can’t part with it. Then there are other items that aren’t such a basic piece that I have kept. If I’m being really honest with you- unless a piece gets ruined, doesn’t fit or just waaay out of […]
2017 the year the shoulders show off! Off the shoulder, cold shoulder & one shoulder styles are all over the spring looks. No matter what your budget, you can grab a top or two this season and I’ve rounded up some favorites under $55 for you! This relaxed one-shoulder top seems like something I could get a lot of wear with its casual fabric. Old Navy, $19,94- curently on sale for $15. I’m drawn to how dramatic this poplin OTS top with the big bold sleeves. This would be so cute with skinnies and heels! Jennifer Lopez for Kohl’s, $48- currently […]
Comfiest peplum top for under $10!
This oversized knitted poncho has been my serious #1 go to sweater this season. Almost anytime someone would come to visit the baby, I’d throw this on. During holiday shopping I grabbed it on sale at Banana Republic Factory for $30. At the time, I was 34+ weeks pregnant and even at an xs, this sweater fit over the bump. Even though it runs large, I saved it for post-baby anyway. I’ve been head over heels with the burgundy/wine/blood red color since fall and I adore the chunky knit. It’s super easy to throw a long sleeve tshirt underneath and pair […]
