Layering for Late Winter

This time of year in the Midwest we get all the seasons sometimes in one week. A tease of a beautiful warm 70 degree day followed by snow showers a few days later. Layering for late winter can be a challenge but also fun. It is a time to mix some pieces to create a style to reflect the mixed up weather.

One of my favorite SoCal bloggers layered a t-shirt dress last month with a cardi for some insta-style. I wanted to create a similar look using pieces I own at that are Midwest temperature appropriate.

I paried a favorite sweatshirt dress with a closet staple of a long black cardigan and  black over the knee boots for a dash of #onTrend.

I was having an issue keeping my boots up on bare legs- does that happen to anyone else? Made me kinda regret that my boots did not have the adjustable elastic on the thigh. Thankfully I found a pair of pointelle knit socks to help! They are a little thin but just thick enough to keep OTK boots from falling down when I wear skirts and dresses.

Also, I need to talk a little bit about my new Mom bag. It did not take long to realize I need both my hands when running errands solo with the kids. I really wanted a backpack but I had a few specifica requirements. Needed to be black, big enough for Mom and kid gear and affordable. The kicker was, I wanted it to be real leather too.  After weeks of searching I found a beautiful all leather Sorial Candance backpack at my local TJ Maxx.

After cashing in a gift card, I ended up snagging this for $15! I have been using it for about a month and it’s holding up so well- especially for how much I pack in there. Diapers, snacks, sippy cups, toys, wipes, wallet, cell, makeup… you know, all the Mom neccessities.

Sweatshirt Dress is a MUST for Fall

Hey babes! Sorry for the MIA the rest of last week. We had some yard work done and they happen to cut our internet cable too. Technicians came over the weekend to repair our wires. We are a streaming household (we cut cable over 4 years ago!) so a few days without internet is both challenging and refreshing! One of the fall trends for 2017 that I am loving is the sweatshirt dress! Comfy, cute and easy to dress up or down. They are a must have for early fall weather! Although not this past weekend or upcoming week here. […]

Bell Sleeves and Wide Legs

Sometimes you need to throw caution to the wind, pair a few trends and see how they turn out. But isn’t that what makes fashion and styling fun? I think so! Being that I am barely over five feet tall wide leg pants is a tricky look for me to pull off. I always need to wear tall heels to allow that wide leg to flow. Pairing wide leg pants with a (slight) bell sleeve top is a bold move for me. I was not sure how this would look but I am loving the combo! It works because of […]

Sunflowers and Gingham

Pairing a perfect early fall activity with an end of summer classic style! Keep reading to find out more! There is this amazing sunflower field in Yellow Springs, Ohio. My husband and I have lived in Dayton for almost 8 years and admittedly this was our first time visiting. The field is gorgeous! However I had no idea what to expect visiting a sunflower field. There are tons of bees! Thankfully the little terrors are drunk on pollen and could care less about us moving through the field. I did not expect the flowers to be so tall or itchy […]
