Crop tops are normally for warmer weather and surely not for January here in the midwest. Unless of course its a crop top sweater, then it is game on. I happen to own the warmest crop top sweater and it is a favorite I wear year after year.
This chunky knit has a gorgeous texture on the neck and chest and the cream color is the perfect brightness for winter.
I paired my crop sweater with a maxi skirt for my daughter’s recent 1st birthday party. I thought it was a great way to look a little nice for a causal Winter One-derland party we threw at our house. I always forget how toasty I get in this sweater though, for being cropped it sure keeps me warm!
To share the look with you guys, I threw on faux suede tan wedge booties and grabbed my favorite wool bomber jacket. Because guys, it feels so weird to take outfit photos outside in the winter without a coat. Maybe I’ll get over that but for this post, I had to grab a coat for the photos. My coat is about six years old from the Gap. I love the color and cut, it is such a classic staple.
I also love that this outfit is from pieces in my closet. I recently did a HUGE closet purge (babes, you should see the boxes of clothes I need to donate- which I’ve chosen a few women’s charities to donate them too, if I can just get the boxes loaded into my car) and realized I have a lot of great pieces that I need to wear more. I also like the challenge of taking what I already own to create an “in” look. Isn’t that the best part of personal style? Of course I’ve hunted for similar pieces to link up for you girls in case you want to create this look but I encourage you to shop your closet first. I mean why do we buy all these clothes if we it’s not to wear them?

Quick, efficient, compound. All reasons why I love a good kettlebell workout! Kettlebell swings alone work core, back, shoulders, quads, hamstrings and gluts while blasting metabolism in a single movement. Amazing. Today I have a kettlebell swing sets workout that is full body routine that I know you’re going to love! I personally love to do kettlebell swings. They make me almost feel like a kid playing. I enjoy them more than squats due to the momentum of the swing. So fun (or at least I think so!) You know I am all about maximum efficiency when it comes to […]
At the end of October I picked up a couple of items for the upcoming colder weather that I fell in love with- I have worn them so much that they are all #ONREPEAT. Three pieces for winter that I can not stop wearing! Jennifer Lopez Ribbed Dolman Sweater, org $54 The ruby color of this sweater is what attracted me to it. Admittedly I did not think I would like the cut of this sweater on me but order anyway because of the color. I was so happy when I put it on and saw how it fit. It’s […]
We are half way through the first month of the new year and I want to know how those resolutions are holding up? For me 2018 brings possibility as I shift some major lifestyle changes! Hello 2018, hello possibility! So, let’s start with the BIG gap since my last post. Where have I been? Weell, the Monday after Thanksgiving I resigned from my job- right at the beginning of the department’s busiest time of year. Then you throw Holidays and planning a 1st birthday party on top. Just for fun, mix in said almost one year old not sleeping through […]
Faux leather leggings are a must have in your closet. If you have not tried a pair, I promise they will quickly become one of your most favorite pairs of leggings. Super comfy and stylish! They work with lots of options and are fun for mixing textures for winter! The pair of faux leather leggings I wore for about four seasons needed to be replaced this year. I picked up this pair but sadly they sold out over the weekend since they were marked for under $15! These and these are good alternatives! I paired my leggings with a knit […]
Sometimes you buy a sequined skirt with no clue where to wear it but immediately vision a few ways on how to style it! I am sharing today two ways to style a sequined skirt dressy or casual! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Did you participate in my parade workout? I had a bit of trouble keeping up with it while cooking. My hubs came down with the flu so we ended up staying home for Thanksgiving. I some how managed to whip up all our favorites dishes last minute (and I am NOT the chef of the […]

It is Thanksgiving week! The feast we eat this Thursday is my favorite meal of the year. I do not hesitate to indulge in all the potatoes, stuffing and pies- oh and the wine! After all it is a meal only made once a year and I am all about balance. With that being said, Thanksgiving should not be a day to skip out on a workout. Even a small one will make you feel better about wishing you wore elastic waist pants later that day! This year I am going to do this Thanksgiving Day Parade Workout I created in […]
With extended family dispersed around the Midwest, my household usually travels for Thanksgiving. Fortunately for us it is usually only a three to four hour car ride. Nevertheless, I still want to wear a super comfy outfit for our little road trip. With all the cute sweaters in the stores right now it is easy to create a stylish comfy holiday travel look! The sweater I am wearing to create this look is from a previous Victoria’s Secret collection. It is a multi-way sweater that can be worn as a cowl neck, off the shoulder, or one shoulder like I […]
Between holding babies, often while carrying diaper and/or grocery bags, and keeping my house in order — all after a long day sitting in front of a computer — there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t benefit from a good should stretch. This is an often forgotten part of the body that we really put through the paces every day, so today I am sharing the 6 shoulder stretches that really help me recover and feel refreshed at the end of a tough day. These stretches are quick and easy, but don’t be fooled — they are […]
