Denim Shorts + Mules x 2

I’m still obessing over my new mules that I’ve paired them with some denim shorts for two looks perfect Ohio spring weather!

Kimonos, robes, & long vests/cardis in soft pastels and florals make great layering pieces for spring. This Loft fine knit blush cardi is one of my favorite spring finds- its soft, versitle and the perfect warmth for April & May. We are traveling to see friends this weekend and this outfit is defiently getting packed!

Cold shoulders are making bold statements this year, am I right? While shopping for my kids I spotted this Lauren Conrad cold shoulder spring sweater at check out. The ribbon tie straps just begged to come home with me. Combine with the slight bell sleeve and neutral color- this sweater is bringing its spring game hard!

White Denim I Miss You

Now that spring is officially here I’ve found myself missing my white skinny jeans. They are safely nestled with my other pre-baby jeans that I’m patiently working towards fitting again.

I’d love to pair an off the shoulder chambray or navy top with some white skinnies, that look is so in right now! I’m entertaining purchasing a pair for this spring/summer that will fit me now. Some contenders:

AG The Prima in White

I already know I like this brand/cut and ShopBop has them 50% off!

7 for All Mankind Gwenevere Skinny Jean

I already own a few pairs of this brand/style so I know the fit would work out for me. Off Fifth has a few pairs left and are almost 60% off!

Articles of Society Sarah Distressed Skinny Jeans

I’ve never tried Articles of Society denim before but I’ve heard good things and I’m really loving the distress look right now. These are not on sale but are under $60 over at Nordstrom!

What do you think? Have a favorite white denim that I need to know about? I’d love to hear from you!  Right now I’m leaning towards the Articles of Society distressed skinnies.

SIS Body Blast Workout

I’ve had my blog up for almost a month and I’m long overdue sharing a fitness post! This is Style in Shape- Fashion and Fitness for less afterall and that fitness category is empty!

But guys, let me tell you- it’s a lot harder than it looks. To the seasoned fitness bloggers out there- bravo! You make this ish look not akward and totally embarassing.

Or maybe it’s just me that is akward and embarassing but you know what? I’m sharing anyway. It’s a killer workout. Some of my moves are modified and my range of motion is no where how it looks in my mind but this one is a keeper. It will leave you sweaty!

Funny thing about recording a workout is it doesn’t lie. I can see that I need to correct my form in a few of these moves- that just means I have progress to make. I am just about 13 weeks post partum with still 20 lbs of baby weight to shed- I don’t expect my form to be perfect. Fitness is a journey!

Oh and I thought I had sound off during recording but nope; you can hear my children in the background. Feel free to mute. Working up a sweat amongst my kids playing in a semi-finished basement-it doesn’t get any more authentic than this, am I right?

BODY BLAST WORKOUT

Complete 10-12 reps (per side when applicable) of each move and 30 seconds on the cardio move. Repeat before moving to the next set.

(no image? video will appear when you click play)

Set 1:

Cross over stationary lunges
Side lunge with a dumbbell pull
Plank with shin taps
High Knees

Set 2:

Alternating bent over row and leg extension
Tricep extension with sumo squat
Seated side twists
Mountain climbers

Set 3

Renegade rows
Squat with rotational twist press
V-ups (or modified as I’m doing)
Squat jumps with floor taps

Make this easier by losing the weights, or harder by extending your range of motion or increasing weights. Try to always do a little warm up and cool down to avoid injury.

My Spring Shoe Picks: Target Style

I’m obsessed with my new perforated mule booties (right). Like so obessed, there is at least one other blog post this week about them! Are they not the cutest? And perfect for Ohio spring weather when you’re just not sure if it’s going to be gorgeous or rain or snow even! The color is just right too! Love love love them!

I’m also really excited to see that this A2 gladiator wedge (left) is still around this season! I fell in love with these sandals last year when I was shopping for my trip to Paris. You can find them at Target and Kohls this season.

Speaking of Target- right now they have a buy one get one half off on shoes for the whole family! I’ve rounded up my picks of the women shoes to share today. (Click the image to get the full details!)

I keep thinking about these very colorful slides. They are just so fun right? It’s like a little fiesta for your feet. Makes me want to sip a margarita on a patio and pretend I’m in Mexico.

Blush is in and I wouldn’t mind adding a solid blush pump to my collection. These d’Orsay pumps say they are pink- but they look pretty blush to me..

But I also really love these microsuede blush pumps too! And in that olive shade which would be totally hot in the fall.

And let’s talk about these ballet flats. They are in blush as well, but oh they are so cute. With blush being the new nude, I think these could be pulled off with everything from jeans to sundresses!

I think this remix on the classic ankle strap high heel sandal is so in right now with the wider strap and block heel.

And let me talk about this caged heel that I’ve stopped to look at during my last few trips to Target. They remind me of a grown up version of the sandals I’d wear in the summer as a kid. The faux leather is actually really soft. I think they are just adorable and would look so great with shorts and jeans this summer!

And the last shoe I’m sharing- I laughed at loud when I saw them online. I have sandals just like this- but they are brown and from Payless circa 1993! Every year I think about putting them in my donate pile since I’ve had them since middle school but I can’t bring myself to do it. They are still in great shape and one of my favorite sandals to wear with maxi dresses and skirts. Love them so much I might just need to get this black and cognac version too!

Now, how to narrow my choices! With all of these being under $40 and Buy 1 get 1 half off maybe the husband won’t mind if I just snag them all?

Back to the Grind

Today is my first day back in the office, eek! On some levels it feels like the past twelve weeks flew by and isn’t exactly long enough time with my new babe. Thankfully I’m only working part time over the next few months which means lots more days full of baby snuggles.

Jumping on the Blush Crush craze I paired my favorite black pull on pants with a soft blush top and a white blazer for my first day back to work. I dug out these super old blush snake skin heels too. Truth be told I’m a little nervous to walk in heels since it’s been awhile! I added a few of my rose gold jewelry pieces to finish the look. Also, I can hardly believe it but it only took 10 minutes to curl my hair! Winning Monday morning in my book!

Styled Details

One of my favorite ways to switch up wearing the same wardrobe pieces is mixing up the outfit details- the shoes, the jewelry, the makeup.

With the looks I wore most of this winter (here, here and here) it was easy to mix around details to keep myself from focusing that I only had a handful of tops that fit right after pregnancy. Switch a bootie to a riding boot, swap a necklace or give myself a fresh mani can really make a difference. (Pro tip: this is a GREAT technique to use when traveling- create different looks by packing less clothes and more accessories)

Today I’m sharing some of my top combos of jewelry and manicures as of lately.

The Relic series from Stella and Dot is one of my constant go-to necklace and earrings, last year and this year.
Mixed metals + pave details=LOVE.

And what I love even more? How perfectly it matched the Black Friday 2016 Retro Glam Twist Jamberry nail wrap. It’s like these two were designed for each other!

Newborn snuggles isn’t really condusive for necklace wearing so most days I’d wear very simple jewelry. (if any, let’s be honest!)

I’d pair this Banana Republic Factory bar slider bracelet and drop silver earrings with a silver stripe mani. Simple & polished. Makes me feel human and not a sleep deprived new mom.

The last combo I’m sharing of course includes the wine color family! I love how well the gold studs mix well with this gold cuff. Together they bring out the specs of gold in the New York Minute Jamberry nail wrap design!

Earrings, $29. Bracelet (found @Heart Mercantile), $12. Nail wraps, $15.

Small details can make big style, don’t you think?

What I wore: St Pat’s Day!

I am super excited that the gorgeous green blouse my husband bought me for Christmas now fits! Over the holidays I instantly fell in love with the rich green hue and pleated back of this blouse. It kinda killed me to watch it sit in my closet but there was no way it was going to look good over the bump!

I styled it with cigarette jeans, suede wedged booties and simple jewelry for our St. Patrick’s celebration this year. We met some friends for the kids to play, watch Irish dancing and of course a little green beer. What did you do?

Top: Loft, gift.
Jeans: AG, $90 (similar)
Booties: Target, $35 *
Necklace: Stella and Dot, $49
Bracelet: Stella and Dot, $59
Nail wrap: Jamberry, $15

*PS- if you purchase the dv Stephanie Wedges this week at Target you can save $15 when you spend $75! (March 26-April 1, 2017)

Cold Shoulder for Winter Date Night

I truly have a love for the burgundy/merlot/wine family. And today I’m sharing another one of the pieces I picked up in that color.

So let me start by saying I am not the biggest fan of cold shoulder tops. Idk why, they just aren’t really me?… However, the moment I put my hands on this cold shoulder knit top, I didn’t care if that style is me or not- I wanted to wear this fabric ASAP. Maybe it’s the winter, or maybe it’s the Mama Bear in me- but if it’s soft and comfy, I have to have it this season.

I paired the cold shoulder top with the amazing postpartum support leggings by Blanqi. These breathable leggings give great support on my thighs, waist and bum that isn’t retractive or uncomfortable. Bonus, they have a little sheen which makes them super fun to wear on date night!

Sweater: boutique item found at Heart Mercantile, $30
Leggings: Blanqi, gift
Boots: Charlotte Russe (similar), $20

Before you go, let’s just ogle a little bit more at the over the knee boots. Yes, it’s in that wine family color again. I just love these puppies, and I can’t believe how well they have held up the last two seasons!

The Blardigan

Hello, meet what the bestie and I refer to as The Blardigan. She has one, I have one- and it’s heaven really. What is it you ask? Pretty much the most soft cardigan ever made. It’s fuzzy, warm, oversized and ombre. It’s almost like wearing a blanket. I even purchased my mom one for Christmas. It’s that amazing.

I wore the heck out of this Barefoot Dreams Cardigan from the moment it was gifted to me. I’m talking once or twice a week. It’s the best to wear on a cold day, especially when snuggling a newborn. Or brunching. Or sipping wine by the fire. Or watching cartoons with the kids.

You need to head over to Nordstrom and get yourself one like right now!

PS, let me talk about these leggings for a second. If you’ve got some jiggle you want to think less about- these Simply Vera by Vera Wang leggings that I’m wearing above from Kohls are everything! I’m so impressed with the tummy control and the thick material. Hello- you can’t see my panties in these!

Cardigan: Nordstrom, gift
Nursing tank: Kohls, $18
Leggings: Kohls, $16
Boots: Target, $20

Oversized Sweater FTW

This oversized knitted poncho has been my serious #1 go to sweater this season. Almost anytime someone would come to visit the baby, I’d throw this on.

During holiday shopping I grabbed it on sale at Banana Republic Factory for $30. At the time, I was 34+ weeks pregnant and even at an xs, this sweater fit over the bump. Even though it runs large, I saved it for post-baby anyway. I’ve been head over heels with the burgundy/wine/blood red color since fall and I adore the chunky knit.

It’s super easy to throw a long sleeve tshirt underneath and pair with jeggings and booties for happy hour with the girls. Pair it with leggings and slippers for a cozy winter day inside. Seriously, it’s the perfect oversized sweater.
