Sweatshirt Dress is a MUST for Fall

Hey babes! Sorry for the MIA the rest of last week. We had some yard work done and they happen to cut our internet cable too. Technicians came over the weekend to repair our wires. We are a streaming household (we cut cable over 4 years ago!) so a few days without internet is both challenging and refreshing!

One of the fall trends for 2017 that I am loving is the sweatshirt dress! Comfy, cute and easy to dress up or down. They are a must have for early fall weather! Although not this past weekend or upcoming week here. It has been pushing mid-80’s. Summer is back for one last party!

I purchased my sweatshirt dress back in the winter from the girls at Heart Mercantile in the Oregon District. Technically, I think it was supposed to be a tunic but I’m so short that it fits as a dress. I love that it’s soft and has pockets. It’s super cute with booties, over the knee boots or with tennis as I’m wearing here.

My bag is also from Heart. I seriously cannot go into that store without picking up a little something! I have linked up a few other sweatshirt dresses that are just way too cute. Lots of styles from simple like mine, hooded, one shoulder, ruffled or even super edgy like in faux leather!

Speaking of tennis- the Adidas pair wearing in these photos are pretty much the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Seriously, run out and buy yourself a pair. Your feet will thank me!

Bell Sleeves and Wide Legs

Sometimes you need to throw caution to the wind, pair a few trends and see how they turn out. But isn’t that what makes fashion and styling fun? I think so! Being that I am barely over five feet tall wide leg pants is a tricky look for me to pull off. I always need to wear tall heels to allow that wide leg to flow. Pairing wide leg pants with a (slight) bell sleeve top is a bold move for me. I was not sure how this would look but I am loving the combo! It works because of […]

Sunflowers and Gingham

Pairing a perfect early fall activity with an end of summer classic style! Keep reading to find out more! There is this amazing sunflower field in Yellow Springs, Ohio. My husband and I have lived in Dayton for almost 8 years and admittedly this was our first time visiting. The field is gorgeous! However I had no idea what to expect visiting a sunflower field. There are tons of bees! Thankfully the little terrors are drunk on pollen and could care less about us moving through the field. I did not expect the flowers to be so tall or itchy […]

5 Shoes for Early Fall

Here in Southwest Ohio, we have a few more weeks of skin showing shoes. There is no more perfect time than early fall to bust out the (faux) suede shoes, peep toes and open backs!  Keep reading to see my current shoe choices! I’m still wearing these perforated mules purchased from Target this past Spring. They are currently trending and at under $35- a shoe you want in your collection! They look so great with jeans and just about anything from a favorite sweater to a casual t-shirt. Next up is a pair if sling back booties I purchased on […]

Transition into Fall with a Denim Vest

Happy Labor Day friends! I hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend! We were fortunate to catch a breakfast with some friends that were in town visiting. Then the little man had a birthday party. We also visited a gorgeous sunflower field, enjoyed burgers at a favorite joint and had some fun at Alter Fest (a local festival). Not to mention lots of hang out time at home. It was a pretty perfect weekend! Fall tempted us with her refreshing cool weather earlier this weekend but the last two days it’s been HOT. I did grab a #PSL, so there’s that! Hello […]

The Last White Denim Look for 2017

Saying goodbye to a great pair of white denim for more reasons than just the season. I do not necessarily follow the Memorial Day to Labor Day rule when it comes to white pants but rather I let the weather do the deciding. Usually I break out my bright white jeans in March or April but I pack them away when September rolls around. Without realizing it when I took these photos, this would be my last white denim look for the year. Sure, I’ll probably break out my winter white favorite skinny cords soon but this post is a farewell […]

Collab: 6 Back to School Fashion & Fitness Tips

Hey guys! I’ve been a little off the Internet grid for the past couple of days. The husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a getaway to Miami Beach. I had all intentions to blog & take you guys with us via Insta stories but somewhere along that first night I put away my phone & decided that what I really needed to do was unplug and reconnect with my number one. And that’s just what I did! (A’s swim trunks | A’s tank (similar) | Bikini top | Bikini bottom) Now I’m back, and brainstorming my next month of content. […]

Top Knot & One Shoulder: A Killer Date Night Look + a Giveaway!

Friday night, aka Date Night. Although, my date night looks something like cute comfy clothes, a bottle of wine and Netflix while snuggled up next to Adam. Buut, if we happen to have a baby sitter and were going out tonight this is totally what I would wear! With the nights still warm, I can wear a one shoulder top with jeans and be comfortable. Paired with a classic nude heel, sparkly studs, a sentimental bracelet and a favorite clutch gives sophistication. Add the tried and true top not and now we are date ready! A little brag here- this […]

Gingham 3 Ways

The school year started today for my district. And while summer break might be over for the kids, I’m holding on to the next few weeks! Before we break out the sweaters and booties (and I can’t WAIT for that! Fall. Is. My. Favorite.) I’ve have three ways to wear gingham that are perfect for the end of summer. Scroll down to see my looks!    Gingham is one of my favorite plaids! It’s great in all the colors but black and white is just so classic and stylish. Wear it to work or wear it to play- black and […]

What I Wore: Road Trip to Chi-town

My 4 year old son is train obsessed! He has been a total train addict since he was a year and a half old. Every car ride we are looking for train tracks, train bridges, train yards and of course trains! Last summer he was able to ride the subway a ton during our family trip to Boston and has been asking to go back ever since! This past Saturday, Adam and I woke up at 4:15am and pulled the kids out of bed for a very impromptu road trip to Chicago. Main objective: ride the L. Depending on traffic […]

Current Trend Love: The Romper Maxi

Hope ya’ll are having a wonderful weekend! I’m super pumped to spend some time with my bestie who is in town! I love rompers. I love maxis. And I definitely love this maxi romper! Have you seen these this season? They are so super fun! I purchased this fun dress a few months back in anticipation for summer and let me tell you, it’s been on repeat! It’s so easy to throw on with gladiator sandals or dress it up a bit more with some block heels. I wore it out for a date night with the hubs. I wore […]

I love to pair […]

Oversize Sunnies Have My Heart

When it comes to picking out sunglasses I always gravitate towards oversized frames. I have full cheeks so the bigger the better for sunglass frames. Picking a larger frame keeps my cheeks from squishing up into the bottom of the lense- which avoiding that is a total win. Any small step to keep me feeling like I sorta have it together is definitely a bonus. I stick with traditional shapes for my shades: Oval and Aviator are my go to style. I know these two styles work well for my face and that they will never really go out of […]

Closet Find: The Chambray Purse

Happy Friday friends! I wore this outfit a few weeks back to a happy hour event A’s department was hosting. My outfit stemmed around finding this purse in my closet. The baby was napping and for whatever reason I decided to dig through the two containers that keep my purse collection over the years. I found this cute summery purse that I swear to you, I probably bought from Target in 2005! See the handle? That white with stripes is actually what the purse looks like but I decided to flip it inside out when I saw the inside was […]

Peplum brings All the Feels

Peplums, I hope you never go out of style. I really wasn’t a huge fan when you circled back into trend few years ago- but now I’m in love with your flounce. Give me a sleeveless version of you, and it brings all the feels. There’s just something about a sleeveless peplum top that makes me feel confident and ready to take on whatever the day brings! Peplum tops provide some body definition without being too tight. Seriously, this is one of the best silhouettes to hide that last bit of baby weight I’m trying to shake! Fun fact- I […]

3 Shoulder Show Looks for the Office

It’s July (my birthday month, woo!), and the year of the shoulder show game is STILL strong. What I’m loving the most about this trend is it’s flirting with all the different styles out there. Workout gear, casual, athleisure, formal, swimwear and even professional looks! I see so many adorable cold shoulder and off the shoulder tops that I would love to purchase but my reality is 5 out of 7 days a week my outfits adhere to my company’s dress code policy making some options not office friendly. I was really excited when I came across a few off […]

Closet Finds FTW

I’m not a hoarder of much of anything besides crafting and wardrobe pieces. I’m not kidding when I say I still have the skirt I wore to my high school graduation! I don’t wear it too often because I’m not really a skirt girl. It’s a basic cream colored modest mini skirt from Express that is such a wardrobe staple that I can’t part with it.  Then there are other items that aren’t such a basic piece that I have kept. If I’m being really honest with you- unless a piece gets ruined, doesn’t fit or just waaay out of […]

5 Casual Summer Sandals This Season

I’m a strong believer that a shoe can make or break an outfit. The shoe doesn’t even need to be a wow factor for this to happen- it just has to be the right shoe. For as much as I believe this for years I only wore some version of a flip flop in the summer in all the colors. I eventually graduated from a rainbow of plastic to a rainbow of leather but it wasn’t until a few years ago I started to embrace the various forms of the summer sandal. And now, I can’t stop! Of course I […]

Killer Lunch Quickie

Hi guys! Gosh, it’s been over a week since I last posted. Yikes! And a week it has been. I’m much looking forward to a glass of wine (or three) this evening! Little Miss started in the infant room at her school this week and I’m back to working full time. I was that hot mess Mom with a stream of tears down my face on our first drop off. This week has been an adjustment; emotionally & physically. I’m still trying to juggle to fit everything that I want into my day/week. (Like blogging, laundry!) Since my little lady […]

My #NSALE Under $50 Picks

Nordstrom Half Yearly  Sale started yesterday and I mean really who doesn’t love a good sale? Especially if you’re like me who aims to purchase an entire outfit for under $100 or less! Fashion is ever changing which means sometimes if you just hold off long enough a favorite item will be marked down. Combine that with free shipping and it’s like Christmas morning, am I right? I really love this one shoulder ruffle top– I think it would be great for a little happy hour fun. It comes in so many cute colors but I’d probably stick to black. This […]

3 Reasons Why I Date My Husband

My go to marriage advice to give for bridal shower/wedding games  is “continue to date one another”. Sure there are other marriage advice that I think are important but for me this one is crucial- and even more so now that we have kids. Work, career, laundry, cooking, cleaning house, paying bills, running errands- there’s a lot that happens to be a functioning adult. Then you have kids which adds another level to all the noise that is life. This can leave us feeling exhausted! It’s good  to break away from the every day routine with Adam for a little bit. As […]
