4 Activewear Trends To Try This Fall

Now that I’m back into my post-baby size I am itching to get my hands on some new activewear! There are some major cute activewear trends for fall that I’m absolutely loving! Keep reading to check out four trends you need to try!

A crop sweatshirt
While online browsing today I saw a lot of crop sweatshirts and hoodies. Such a cute twist on the basic sweatshirt. I really dig this Nike one and this Adidas hoodie.. I would pair with high waisted leggings for the gym. Or with a long tank and cotton leggings for lounging.

The Mesh Legging
I am totally obsessing over all the mesh insert leggings out there. The styles I’m seeing range from pretty sexy to small mesh panels. Regardless there are so many cute pairs, I can’t handle it!

Fun Layers
I am also excited to see all the unique options for activewear layers right now. My favorite pieces are this knit Moto jacket and this wrapped cardigan. I am loving the cut outs and fun back styles too!

The Distressed Legging
Another activewear trend I am loving is distressed active leggings. From a simple knee slit to a full leg slash! . I am not sure how practical for function they might be but they are totally BA.

Sweatshirt Dress is a MUST for Fall

Hey babes! Sorry for the MIA the rest of last week. We had some yard work done and they happen to cut our internet cable too. Technicians came over the weekend to repair our wires. We are a streaming household (we cut cable over 4 years ago!) so a few days without internet is both challenging and refreshing!

One of the fall trends for 2017 that I am loving is the sweatshirt dress! Comfy, cute and easy to dress up or down. They are a must have for early fall weather! Although not this past weekend or upcoming week here. It has been pushing mid-80’s. Summer is back for one last party!

I purchased my sweatshirt dress back in the winter from the girls at Heart Mercantile in the Oregon District. Technically, I think it was supposed to be a tunic but I’m so short that it fits as a dress. I love that it’s soft and has pockets. It’s super cute with booties, over the knee boots or with tennis as I’m wearing here.

My bag is also from Heart. I seriously cannot go into that store without picking up a little something! I have linked up a few other sweatshirt dresses that are just way too cute. Lots of styles from simple like mine, hooded, one shoulder, ruffled or even super edgy like in faux leather!

Speaking of tennis- the Adidas pair wearing in these photos are pretty much the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Seriously, run out and buy yourself a pair. Your feet will thank me!

Bell Sleeves and Wide Legs

Sometimes you need to throw caution to the wind, pair a few trends and see how they turn out. But isn’t that what makes fashion and styling fun? I think so!

Being that I am barely over five feet tall wide leg pants is a tricky look for me to pull off. I always need to wear tall heels to allow that wide leg to flow. Pairing wide leg pants with a (slight) bell sleeve top is a bold move for me. I was not sure how this would look but I am loving the combo! It works because of my shirt is tucked in creating some definition to my small frame.

I purchased both my top and pants from Kohl’s last month on mega clearance- both items marked under $10! Throw some Kohl’s cash on top of that and this outfit was basically free! Besides my shoes (those olive booties again) I was not able to find any of my exact outfit details to link up for you gals but make sure to check out the items I put in the product widget. I found a lot of great dups so you can create a similar look!

What’s a trend you’d love to mix even if it is outside your comfort zone?

Sunflowers and Gingham

Pairing a perfect early fall activity with an end of summer classic style! Keep reading to find out more!

There is this amazing sunflower field in Yellow Springs, Ohio. My husband and I have lived in Dayton for almost 8 years and admittedly this was our first time visiting.

The field is gorgeous! However I had no idea what to expect visiting a sunflower field. There are tons of bees! Thankfully the little terrors are drunk on pollen and could care less about us moving through the field. I did not expect the flowers to be so tall or itchy either. My sweet four year old plowed through rows taller than him. Such a trooper!

The problem with tall flowers is it makes it impossible for this novice blogger to take a full outfit shot in the field. I really am not sure what I was thinking? Totally should have Pinterest that idea first. I took a picture of my shoes thinking maybe it would help visualize the look. Probably does not but maybe? Just go with it! The flowers are too pretty not to share so I’m posting anyway.

I wore a gingham button up I purchased years ago from Kohl’s with my favorite jeans ev-er. I am so beyond excited to fit back into my favorite AG jeans since baby girl was born! {happy dance} I pulled on my new obessisson: these olive peep toe booties. Also probably not the best choice to wear heels to march through a sunflower field. All things I am taking note for next year!

My bag is from Heart Mercantile. It’s a fun earthy tone in a faux suede & I am totally loving it for fall!

5 Shoes for Early Fall

Here in Southwest Ohio, we have a few more weeks of skin showing shoes. There is no more perfect time than early fall to bust out the (faux) suede shoes, peep toes and open backs!  Keep reading to see my current shoe choices!

I’m still wearing these perforated mules purchased from Target this past Spring. They are currently trending and at under $35- a shoe you want in your collection! They look so great with jeans and just about anything from a favorite sweater to a casual t-shirt.

Next up is a pair if sling back booties I purchased on clearance last October. I wore these all last fall when I was pregnant.  I love to pair them with anything I’m wearing with my jeans or when I’m wearing a jersey midi dress. Best part is they are comfortable! These and these are similar options, and this pair under $45!

Busy gals need a solid pair of flats for every season and I’m totally loving these nude peep toe faux suede ones I picked up at Old Navy. I could not believe that they were marked on clearance at my local store for $2.97 when they are not anywhere near that price online! I always size up a half size on my flats and this one the only pair left in my size in the store. There was no way they were not coming home with me. I love that I can wear these with dress pants and jeans making them very versatile for work and play!

I’m most excited about these peep toe booties I ordered from Kohls. I love the side slit and block heel but I mostly love the colors (tan, olive, black). It was a hard decision to make but I went with the olive shade. I thought they would be a fun way to mix up neutrals this season!

Since there isn’t snow on the ground (yet)- I’m going to push wearing strappy sandals for as long as I can. I took these low block heel sandals with me to Miami Beach last month. I was nervous about ruining them while walking SoBe in the rain and was really glad to see how well they held up. I even wore them for the 4 mile bike ride we took along the Miami Beach Boardwalk. If you need a basic heel, make it these!

You will see these shoes featured in the outfit posts for September to give you some other ideas on how to style. Pretty soon the weather will drop for good and I’ll be all about the boots and booties so I’m hanging on to pedicure season while it’s still here!

Transition into Fall with a Denim Vest

Happy Labor Day friends! I hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend! We were fortunate to catch a breakfast with some friends that were in town visiting. Then the little man had a birthday party. We also visited a gorgeous sunflower field, enjoyed burgers at a favorite joint and had some fun at Alter Fest (a local festival). Not to mention lots of hang out time at home. It was a pretty perfect weekend!

Fall tempted us with her refreshing cool weather earlier this weekend but the last two days it’s been HOT. I did grab a #PSL, so there’s that! Hello favorite drink.

A few years ago I was convinced denim vests would become a trend. Apparently they didn’t catch on because they have not appeared on any “must-own” list. I still love my little jean vest almost as much as I love my jean jacket- even if I feel a little awkward when styling. I’m most comfortable when I pair it over a sleeveless dress. I think it could be cute over the right sleeved dress too!

If you are in a warmer state adding a denim vest over a summer dress is a great way to transition into fall. Style with a favorite open toe shoe and a long necklace to complete your look! Perfect for fall days that are pushing towards 90!

My maxi dress is from this past spring and is sold out so I’ve linked similar versions. My jean vest is from Gap a few years ago- so I’ve also linked similar items if you want to duplicate my look!

The Last White Denim Look for 2017

Saying goodbye to a great pair of white denim for more reasons than just the season.

I do not necessarily follow the Memorial Day to Labor Day rule when it comes to white pants but rather I let the weather do the deciding. Usually I break out my bright white jeans in March or April but I pack them away when September rolls around.

Without realizing it when I took these photos, this would be my last white denim look for the year. Sure, I’ll probably break out my winter white favorite skinny cords soon but this post is a farewell to these jeans. Not only has the weather significantly dropped over night but these jeans are actually too big now!

I bought this white pair to get me through the season since I’m still losing the baby weight. To be honest when I decided I felt confident enough to do a tucked in shirt look I was totally surprised to see I could get one of my skinny belts buckled. Hands up for dedication! 🙌🏼

These jeans were my first ever Paige brand jeans and I truly love the way they fit and feel. There’s no comparison to good quality denim. Jeans that hold their shape wash after wash but yet feel so comfortable you never want to take them off- that’s magical. I always try to snag my denim on major sale or from top department store outlets (The Rack, Off Fifth, Last Call, etc.)

Here are a few looks I shared on the blog this season:

My last look was a #CasualFriday work look. I paired with a cold shoulder button up, a fun pattern neutral wedge sandal (last season) and cute jacket earrings I picked up from my girls at Heart Mercantile.

While I’m hopeful we’ll have a few more warm days here in Dayton, it’s officially time for me to say peace out to summer and hello to fall. ✌🏼So long white jeans, it’s been a great season!

Collab: 6 Back to School Fashion & Fitness Tips

Hey guys! I’ve been a little off the Internet grid for the past couple of days. The husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a getaway to Miami Beach. I had all intentions to blog & take you guys with us via Insta stories but somewhere along that first night I put away my phone & decided that what I really needed to do was unplug and reconnect with my number one. And that’s just what I did!

Now I’m back, and brainstorming my next month of content. September marks 6 months of blogging and the kick off to my favorite season, fall! I’m totally #basic with my love for pumpkin spice everything, mad for plaid and puffy vests!

Today though I’m really excited to share my first collaboration with ya’ll!

I had the opportunity to write a piece for Mom Entreprenuer Alliance International’s monthly newsletter. This organization aims to bring a purposeful collaboration of inspiration and resource for Mom’s who work while raising a family. I am all for groups of women supporting one another and was really excited when this opportunity presented itself! This Mom-tribe has chapters in California and plans to expand out East. In my opinion, something we need locally and look forward to being a part of this growing community!

Top Knot & One Shoulder: A Killer Date Night Look + a Giveaway!

Friday night, aka Date Night. Although, my date night looks something like cute comfy clothes, a bottle of wine and Netflix while snuggled up next to Adam. Buut, if we happen to have a baby sitter and were going out tonight this is totally what I would wear!

With the nights still warm, I can wear a one shoulder top with jeans and be comfortable. Paired with a classic nude heel, sparkly studs, a sentimental bracelet and a favorite clutch gives sophistication. Add the tried and true top not and now we are date ready!

A little brag here- this is the first I’ve been able to fit into my favorite pair of jeans since early in my pregnancy last year! It feels good seeing my dedication to my health is paying off. It also feels really great to have my favorite jeans back into rotation!

I also have a very exciting announcement! I’ve paired up with some of the Style Collective sisters to give one lucky follower a shopping trip worth over $150! Hop over to my Instagram page, look for this post and follow the steps to enter!

Gingham 3 Ways

The school year started today for my district. And while summer break might be over for the kids, I’m holding on to the next few weeks! Before we break out the sweaters and booties (and I can’t WAIT for that! Fall. Is. My. Favorite.) I’ve have three ways to wear gingham that are perfect for the end of summer. Scroll down to see my looks!

Gingham is one of my favorite plaids! It’s great in all the colors but black and white is just so classic and stylish. Wear it to work or wear it to play- black and white gingham will always looks polished!

Look 1: Pairing this cute gingham midi lace up dress (that is currently half off!) with perfect white sneaks and fun tassel earrings. Grab your favorite denim jacket to complete this look! Perfect for a day at the park with the kids!

Look 2: Taking gingham to the mani with easy to apply nail wraps for a week long gingham party! I picked this super soft ruffled one shoulder cotton tee with some distressed denim shorts and comfy slides. BONUS: Target is running a buy one get one half off on women’s shoe’s right now! Take this outfit while tackling errands and don’t forget the cold brew run!

Look 3: I’ve been lusting over this one shoulder gingham long sleeve top for a month (totally should have bought when it was 50% off!). Pair it with some distressed relaxed jeans, block strappy sandals and a cute clutch. Date night ready in a flash!
