Hello, are You there?

Heey, winter- you have overstayed your welcome. For real, I would be okay if you never made another apperance for the rest of this calender year. I never thought I’d miss my allergy inducing good friend Spring as much as I do right about now. Hello, are you there spring?  The trees are blooming but we are only receving a tease of beautiful sunny days. We want to throw our booties to the back of the closet and show some skin.

This weekend was a pleasant weekend and we were able to spend most of it outside! Friday we went on a bike ride that ended up with margaritas and fish tacos at our friend’s house who had been in Europe for a few weeks. We spent the impromtu night gabbing about their travels while the kids got caught up on all the playing they missed. Saturday we spent the entire day outside besides my quick trip to Ulta. It was the last day to use the 20% off coupon and I needed to stock up! Grabbed my favorite dry shampoo, hairspray, and picked up some new products for the hubs.

(Eye Roller | Moisturizer)

We kicked Sunday off with hosting brunch for our friends- We stuffed our faces with breakfast bowls, fresh fruit & bagel bites before heading down to Cincinnati for a wine festival. We went to 20 Brix 4th Annual Wine Festival. Over 25 wines to try, small bites, live entertainment and kid friendly. Sunday Funday can not get much better than that. We spent the whole afternoon outside enjoying the fresh air, various wines and music.

(Sunglasses | Sweater | Earrings)

It was warm enough to wear this super fun open back sweater I ordered from Express in January. Basically this exact same outfit (because I forgot to take an outfit photo) but distressed jeans instead of black denim.  I think open back sweaters are sexy without being in yo-face sexy. I really love those knot back sweaters all the Influencers are wearing, but girls- I’m frugal with my money and a trend like that isn’t worth $80 for me. I think I snagged this sweater for around $12, it may not have a big ol’ knot but it’s sexy and fun! It’s light weight too which makes it great for a 64 and partly sunny spring day!

Styling a fit and flare sweater dress that is totally appropriate for the office, a lunch date, or happy hour with the co-workers. Keep reading to see how I gave this under $10 dress major style. I rarely ever pay full price for anything- mostly because I know that most items eventually go on sale. And unless I am shopping for an event, I usually hoard new items- ration out wearing something from the new pile. It’s like my Hail Mary for the days that I’m all  “I have nothing in my […]

Layering for Late Winter

This time of year in the Midwest we get all the seasons sometimes in one week. A tease of a beautiful warm 70 degree day followed by snow showers a few days later. Layering for late winter can be a challenge but also fun. It is a time to mix some pieces to create a style to reflect the mixed up weather. One of my favorite SoCal bloggers layered a t-shirt dress last month with a cardi for some insta-style. I wanted to create a similar look using pieces I own at that are Midwest temperature appropriate. I paried a […]

It’s safe to say that my obsession for outerwear is always present (but it kicks into high gear when the weather turns cool!). Little did I know that ruffle bomber jackets would be so popular for fall this year! Have you seen this one at Target? I was there the other day, and loved the feel of the material! (and under $30!) Try a Trend: Monochrome Red

Reports from fashion week are making it clear that red is the color for fall. All shades — from bright red to deep ruby — are in, but monochromatic looks are especially hot! I decided to shop my closet for pieces I already owned to create the current “it” look. I settled on deeper shade of red with a neutral heel to try a trend: monochrome red! I received my blouse as a gift from a friend a few year’s ago who picked it up at Nordstrom Rack. I love the lace detail on the back shoulders! My pants are […]

5 Pieces for Fall

buffalo-plaid-flannel

Although October is in full effect, you would never know it with this unseasonably warm weather we’ve had in Dayton. However, the cool, crisp fall air has made an appearance this week and given how late it is in the year – it’s probably here to stay. While this probably means a healthy dose of drizzly rain, gusty winds and trees losing those beautiful leaves to accompany those falling temperatures, it’s not all bad. After all, fall fashion is my favorite and I am looking forward to rocking things like the 5 pieces for fall that I am sharing today […]

Layer Cold Shoulder For Fall

Guess what? About mid-week the temps dropped to feeling like fall here in Dayton! Yes! Break out the sweaters! At least for a day because it’s warming up again this weekend! But first, let me show you a simple way to layer up a cold shoulder top. When the temps cooled off to below 70 this week I decided to layer up the cold shoulder button up that I was planning to wear to work that day. A knit vest is a perfect layering piece for this! Added warmth of the knit material but still showing off the shoulders a […]
