Style a Basic Cute Tee for the Season

Fall weather is moving in and I’m sharing how to style a basic cute tee for the season! Keep reading to see the look and get full outfit deals!

Don’t Mess with Mama- isn’t that the truth sometimes? Or all the time? JK.
I know that sometimes I am definitely a no-nonsense kinda Mama. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kiddos. But there are times when I’m definitely not playing.

You know the times you’re rushing out the door to make an appointment and they want to bring every toy they can carry plus suddenly forget how to put their shoes on? Or when they skip nap which turns into a whine-melt-a-thon when making dinner? Or worse, a stranger wants to give advice or opinion about your kids on the playground. Yep. For sure. Don’t mess with Mama, please!

Don't Mess with Mama Tee

I picked this cute tee up from the gals at Beck and Call in the Oregon District (Dayton) in the spring and it is one of my favorite tees to wear! It’s cute by it’s self with jeans, a short skirt or shorts. It’s also super easy to layer as we transition into fall.

Style a basic tee for the season with one simple item. A cardigan!

A quick front knot with a simple maxi skirt makes for an EASY outfit. Make sure to grab a cardigan on the way out the door though- because with fall weather here in Ohio you can be hot one minute and chilly the next!

Easy Go-To Sweatshirt

After months of searching I found an easy go-to sweatshirt that you NEED in your closet! I realized one day that I did not own any black sweatshirts. I am not even sure how this is possible since 70% of my closet is black clothing. It was also sorta a challenge to find one that I liked. A few months ago I bought a top labeled as a sweatshirt but when it arrived it was just a thick jersey, not exactly sweatshirt material. Over the summer I spotted a few but they were cropped. Cropped sweatshirts are cute but I […]

LC Bell Sleeve Tee

Super soft cotton and dramatic sleeves- this LC bell sleeve tee is a must buy this season! Kohl’s Instagram got me after a few post of Lauren Conrad in this crew neck bell sleeve top for her cozy fall collection. Her posts were always so cozy and who isn’t a fan of cozy in the chillier months? I threw this dramatic sleeve crew tee on with a pair of AG Prima cigarette pant, oversized plaid affinity scarf and loafers for an afternoon at the outlet mall. Need to embrace the few days of the season that it is warm enough […]

Ellie Box: October 2018

Receiving my monthly Ellie box is always a great mail day! Sharing look I chose for the Ellie Box October 2018. It has almost been a year since I started receiving Ellie boxes again and I have yet to be disappointed with the quality or content of the curated box. I thought it would be fun if I showcased the monthly box contents starting with this month! Each month Ellie has three looks (or collections as they call it) to choose- sometimes it’s hard to pick which one to get! There is usually a theme to the month- like a […]

Fashion Find: Camouflage Scarf

Camouflage has made it’s way back as a trend for this season and this scarf is a fashion find that you need to read about! I think everyone owns a little bit of camouflage in their collection and I decided it was time I did too! I am not a huge fan of camouflage so I wanted to sport this print just a little bit. It needed to be a minimal piece and not cost too much since it’s just to for fun with a current trend. While in Hobby Lobby last week to pick up a few items for the […]

Plaid + Leo: A Winning Fall Combo

If you are from the Midwest you probably own a plaid shirt (or five). Instead of pairing with your favorite plain boots trying mixing up the patterns with a leopard print shoe! Plaid + Leo is a winning fall combo! Hey babes! Look- it’s a style post! The first one since April. {covers face} In all fairness I spent 95% of summer in either a bathing suit or workout clothes so really, not much was missed. Here we are though in October and fall is in full foliage. California has palm trees, Ohio has corn fields. You can’t help but […]

Heey, winter- you have overstayed your welcome. For real, I would be okay if you never made another apperance for the rest of this calender year. Hello, are you there spring?  The trees are blooming but we are only receving a tease of beautiful sunny days. We want to throw our booties to the back of the closet and show some skin. Fashion Find: Recent Buys Vol. 1

Introducing a new series to Style In Shape where I will share my recent purchased items before they are styled. I know my fellow fashionistas will love all the good sales in Fashion Finds: Recent Buys! I am a bargain shopper to the bone. I rarely ever pay full price for anything- mostly because I know that most items eventually go on sale. And unless I am shopping for an event, I usually hoard new items- ration out wearing something from the new pile. It’s like my Hail Mary for the days that I’m all  “I have nothing in my […]

Layering for Late Winter

This time of year in the Midwest we get all the seasons sometimes in one week. A tease of a beautiful warm 70 degree day followed by snow showers a few days later. Layering for late winter can be a challenge but also fun. It is a time to mix some pieces to create a style to reflect the mixed up weather. One of my favorite SoCal bloggers layered a t-shirt dress last month with a cardi for some insta-style. I wanted to create a similar look using pieces I own at that are Midwest temperature appropriate. I paried a […]

Pretty Frills Brings all the Feels

Textured and soft, a little lace, and a chiffon bow; a top with pretty frills brings all the feels as winter drags on. Gals, I have been in a little bit of a rut lately and I sortof want to blame it on winter? As much as I love a good pair of boots and a great sweater- about this time every year I’m over winter weather. I have been sticking to workout leggings and a sweatshirt as my #ootd because, well, it’s cold. When I do put the effort of wearing something other than exercise clothes I have picked […]

The Warmest Crop Sweater

Crop Sweater with Maxi | Style In Shape

Crop tops are normally for warmer weather and surely not for January here in the midwest. Unless of course its a crop top sweater, then it is game on. I happen to own the warmest crop top sweater and it is a favorite I wear year after year. This chunky knit has a gorgeous texture on the neck and chest and the cream color is the perfect brightness for winter. I paired my crop sweater with a maxi skirt for my daughter’s recent 1st birthday party. I thought it was a great way to look a little nice for a […]
