Easy Go-To Sweatshirt

After months of searching I found an easy go-to sweatshirt that you NEED in your closet!

Easy_Go_To_Sweatshirt

I realized one day that I did not own any black sweatshirts. I am not even sure how this is possible since 70% of my closet is black clothing. It was also sorta a challenge to find one that I liked. A few months ago I bought a top labeled as a sweatshirt but when it arrived it was just a thick jersey, not exactly sweatshirt material. Over the summer I spotted a few but they were cropped. Cropped sweatshirts are cute but I knew I’d want to wear a black sweatshirt with leggings which meant my tush needed to be covered.

Last month Popsugar launched a new line for Kohl’s. The collection has a ton of great atheleisure-type clothing, lots of mixed textures and unique details. When I saw this mock layer sweatshirt that came in black I couldn’t wait to try it on! True sweatshirt material besides the poplin hem and cuffs and it is long enough to wear with leggings. Praise! For only $25, this sweatshirt had to come home with me.

I have basically worn this exact outfit or some version of it every week since I picked this up. Hello new uniform! I love the layered look without having to do any of the work to create the style. If a sweatshirt could be très chic, this is it!

LC Bell Sleeve Tee

Super soft cotton and dramatic sleeves- this LC bell sleeve tee is a must buy this season! Kohl’s Instagram got me after a few post of Lauren Conrad in this crew neck bell sleeve top for her cozy fall collection. Her posts were always so cozy and who isn’t a fan of cozy in the chillier months? I threw this dramatic sleeve crew tee on with a pair of AG Prima cigarette pant, oversized plaid affinity scarf and loafers for an afternoon at the outlet mall. Need to embrace the few days of the season that it is warm enough […]

Ellie Box: October 2018

Receiving my monthly Ellie box is always a great mail day! Sharing look I chose for the Ellie Box October 2018. It has almost been a year since I started receiving Ellie boxes again and I have yet to be disappointed with the quality or content of the curated box. I thought it would be fun if I showcased the monthly box contents starting with this month! Each month Ellie has three looks (or collections as they call it) to choose- sometimes it’s hard to pick which one to get! There is usually a theme to the month- like a […]

Fashion Find: Camouflage Scarf

Camouflage has made it’s way back as a trend for this season and this scarf is a fashion find that you need to read about! I think everyone owns a little bit of camouflage in their collection and I decided it was time I did too! I am not a huge fan of camouflage so I wanted to sport this print just a little bit. It needed to be a minimal piece and not cost too much since it’s just to for fun with a current trend. While in Hobby Lobby last week to pick up a few items for the […]

Plaid + Leo: A Winning Fall Combo

If you are from the Midwest you probably own a plaid shirt (or five). Instead of pairing with your favorite plain boots trying mixing up the patterns with a leopard print shoe! Plaid + Leo is a winning fall combo! Hey babes! Look- it’s a style post! The first one since April. {covers face} In all fairness I spent 95% of summer in either a bathing suit or workout clothes so really, not much was missed. Here we are though in October and fall is in full foliage. California has palm trees, Ohio has corn fields. You can’t help but […]

Introducing a new series to Style In Shape where I will share my recent purchased items before they are styled. Layering for Late Winter

This time of year in the Midwest we get all the seasons sometimes in one week. A tease of a beautiful warm 70 degree day followed by snow showers a few days later. Layering for late winter can be a challenge but also fun. It is a time to mix some pieces to create a style to reflect the mixed up weather. One of my favorite SoCal bloggers layered a t-shirt dress last month with a cardi for some insta-style. I wanted to create a similar look using pieces I own at that are Midwest temperature appropriate. I paried a […]

Nevertheless, I still want to wear a super comfy outfit for our little road trip. With all the cute sweaters in the stores right now it is easy to create a stylish comfy holiday travel look! It’s safe to say that my obsession for outerwear is always present (but it kicks into high gear when the weather turns cool!). Little did I know that ruffle bomber jackets would be so popular for fall this year! Have you seen this one at Target? I was there the other day, and loved the feel of the material! (and under $30!) Try a Trend: Monochrome Red

Reports from fashion week are making it clear that red is the color for fall. All shades — from bright red to deep ruby — are in, but monochromatic looks are especially hot! I decided to shop my closet for pieces I already owned to create the current “it” look. I settled on deeper shade of red with a neutral heel to try a trend: monochrome red! I received my blouse as a gift from a friend a few year’s ago who picked it up at Nordstrom Rack. I love the lace detail on the back shoulders! My pants are […]

5 Pieces for Fall

Although October is in full effect, you would never know it with this unseasonably warm weather we’ve had in Dayton. However, the cool, crisp fall air has made an appearance this week and given how late it is in the year – it’s probably here to stay. While this probably means a healthy dose of drizzly rain, gusty winds and trees losing those beautiful leaves to accompany those falling temperatures, it’s not all bad. After all, fall fashion is my favorite and I am looking forward to rocking things like the 5 pieces for fall that I am sharing today […]
