Blueberry Chia Muffins

Blueberry chia muffins that are packed with protein and just the right amount of sweetness- perfect to make ahead for an easy busy morning breakfast! November is here my friends. I am mildly freaking out inside  about the next two months. Events happening every weekend on my calendar all the way into January. My heart is full that there is that much on our social calendar but also a little bit overwhelmed by the amount of tasks that will need my attention for each one of those events. Time to dust off my Super Mom cape and get that coffee […]

Halloween HIIT

Halloween HITT | Style In Shape

No tricks about it- a little halloween HIIT is the workout you need to do before treating tonight! Happy Halloween babes! My kids are so excited for tonight- and I am too! We usually have a few other kiddos over to join us for Beggar’s night. We have chili and cornbread before hitting up our hood. I picked these pumpkin placemats for the dinner table tonight. How cute are they? The little’s and I made a banner to hang up too. Add some apple cider mules and we are all set! I knew my day was going to be packed […]

Easy Go-To Sweatshirt

After months of searching I found an easy go-to sweatshirt that you NEED in your closet! I realized one day that I did not own any black sweatshirts. I am not even sure how this is possible since 70% of my closet is black clothing. It was also sorta a challenge to find one that I liked. A few months ago I bought a top labeled as a sweatshirt but when it arrived it was just a thick jersey, not exactly sweatshirt material. Over the summer I spotted a few but they were cropped. Cropped sweatshirts are cute but I […]

Life is better when you are laughing

A quick reminder that life is better when you are laughing! As we start this week that officially kicks off Hallowthanksmass season, I want to remind you to laugh as often as possible. This week kicks off that season plus #allthebirthdays for me. Ontop of Halloween (we still haven’t carved pumpkins yet), Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year- I have both kids birthday to celebrate, parties to plan & execute and my Mom’s 60th birthday- oh a family wedding too! Just for fun I added to the mix of crazy to have a booth for the  school’s holiday bazaar. It […]

Book Review: Yoga Girl

A quick book review on Yoga Girl and the one powerful quote that helped me overcome personal fear. My husband purchased Yoga Girl as a little anniversary gift to me since I had just landed my new job opening at the YMCA. Ended up reading the whole book on the plane ride home from our anniversary trip in Jamaica! The book is composed of yoga poses, healthy recipes and inspiring quotes all along the author’s personal stories. I have not tried any of the recipes (I want to!) and I like how she gives a break down on how to […]

Protein PSL

With all things fall comes the pumpkin spice latte craze. My Protein PSL recipe is easy and one you’ll want to make over and over again! The very first Pinterest recipe I ever made was my own pumpkin spice latte. I was so excited to make my own syrup infused with pumpkin puree, clove, and cinnamon. It became a staple I made every fall! I do not drink as many sugary coffee drinks anymore but I am still #TeamPSL. I wanted to create a version that was a little healthier and possibly a meal replacement. Just by adding a few […]

Yoga Flow: Core Power

A thirty minute yoga flow that focuses all on that core power! Read on to get the full sequence! I’ve casually dropped here or there that I am now teaching a yoga class at my local YMCA twice a week. I am having so much fun leading my small class through vinyasa style flows. I want to start designing and sharing some yoga for you all too since most of my readers are not local! Funny thing, I gave my first try at recording a flow. Babes, it was terrible! The angle was off and my voice did not carry. […]

LC Bell Sleeve Tee

Super soft cotton and dramatic sleeves- this LC bell sleeve tee is a must buy this season! Kohl’s Instagram got me after a few post of Lauren Conrad in this crew neck bell sleeve top for her cozy fall collection. Her posts were always so cozy and who isn’t a fan of cozy in the chillier months? I threw this dramatic sleeve crew tee on with a pair of AG Prima cigarette pant, oversized plaid affinity scarf and loafers for an afternoon at the outlet mall. Need to embrace the few days of the season that it is warm enough […]

Note to Self

A little note to self for this Mantra Monday! In a world where we want to make others proud sometimes we need to step back and realize it is okay to be proud of ourselves too! Stop and think, what accomplishment would make you proud? Maybe it is a big goal- like paying off a debt or getting a promotion.  Maybe just a small goal- like hitting the gym every day this week or making that recipe recently pinned. Maybe it is just as simple as getting through your to-do list. What is one goal you can accomplish this week? […]

5 Reasons I love the YMCA

After a few free guest passes and one Group Power class my family joined our local YMCA this past summer. The heart of the Y is community and today I have five reasons I love the our local YMCA! As I started to write this post, I realized I probably have more than five reasons I love the YMCA. My top five all stem around a core pillar of any local YMCA- community.  Community is exactly what you feel when you walk through the front doors and walk down the hallways. You feel it when you’re in class or on […]

Vegetable Pumpkin Soup

Adding vegetables creates a pumpkin soup that is savory without the cream! Read on to get this vegetarian and vegan friendly recipe! While InstaPots are making room in our hearts and kitchens, I am still a fan of the crock pot. Having a soup simmer on the countertop all day reminding my belly what is in store for later! One of my son’s favorite fall books is Pumpkin Soup. It is always fun to make some pumpkin soup of our own and read the book. This season I wanted to make a pumpkin soup that was not heavy with cream. […]

Ellie Box: October 2018

Receiving my monthly Ellie box is always a great mail day! Sharing look I chose for the Ellie Box October 2018. It has almost been a year since I started receiving Ellie boxes again and I have yet to be disappointed with the quality or content of the curated box. I thought it would be fun if I showcased the monthly box contents starting with this month! Each month Ellie has three looks (or collections as they call it) to choose- sometimes it’s hard to pick which one to get! There is usually a theme to the month- like a […]

Your Super Power

No one is you and that’s your super power, babe! Take a moment to think about your best friend, what one of her best qualities? Now think about yourself, what is one of yours? I bet you thought of two completely different answers. In a recent conversation with a friend we found ourselves talking about accepting who we are and others for who they are.  We found ourselves discussing  how it was not until we reached our adult years that we learned how to accept and embrace our uniqueness and those of others. And more importantly how beautiful that makes […]

1st Half Mary + 11 Week Training Plan

Sharing a bit of my running history and the 11 week training plan that took me to the finish line of my first half marathon. HISTORY.. I have always admired runners- since probably high school. I had a friend, Joey, who did cross country and track- I was always amazed how graceful & effortless he made the sport appear. Over the years I would attempt to run- it was always so hard regardless of my desire to run.. never effortless! In 2008 I started to run more as an attempt to lose weight for my wedding. My favorite days were […]

Healthy Pumpkin Bread & Homemade Pumpkin Spice Seasoning

Call me basic but I all about the #allthingspumpkin train. This month I’m sharing healthy pumpkin recipes I’ve made recently-last week it was pumpkin spice energy bites. This week I have a yummy (and healthy) pumpkin bread plus my homemade pumpkin spice seasoning! My love for pumpkin goes way back to the 80’s; I’m pretty certain Thanksgiving originally became a favorite holiday only because the pumpkin pie. So yes, when the season even flirts with becoming fall I break out all the pumpkins. The first fall like temps gave me the itch for a pumpkin bread. The catch is I […]

Lotsa Lunges

Style In Shape | Losta Lunges

Who loves leg day? I know I do! This Lotsa Lunges workout will fire up those legs in no time! I have been pretty minimal on leg strengthening since race training to avoid over use. Right now it is really down to only one day a week when the husband and I meet our friends at the Y to do Group Power on Saturday mornings. Although sometimes I really crave a leg day like I did last week. This leg work out is a lot of lunges. I recommend using a weight that is a comfortable challenge for you. Whatever […]

Fashion Find: Camouflage Scarf

Camouflage has made it’s way back as a trend for this season and this scarf is a fashion find that you need to read about! I think everyone owns a little bit of camouflage in their collection and I decided it was time I did too! I am not a huge fan of camouflage so I wanted to sport this print just a little bit. It needed to be a minimal piece and not cost too much since it’s just to for fun with a current trend. While in Hobby Lobby last week to pick up a few items for the […]

Kind Thoughts. Kind Words. Kind Heart

Kind Thoughts. Kind Words. Kind Heart. Three short sentences that can make a big impact on our daily lives. I did not mention it here yet, and I think only briefly over on Insta but I have some major news to share: I am leading a yoga class at the Fairborn YMCA twice a week! I teach a 50 minute yoga toning class. It is a vinyasa style flow with small body weight repetitions sprinkled throughout. I started at the beginning of September and I am having a blast! The room has soft lightning, I play some light beats and […]

aaptiv_review_outdoor_run_cover

Read my first fitness program review Fit Review: Aaptiv- the workout app that changed everything about running for me! Hey babes! Happy Friday! I recently took this fun little quiz from Gina from Fitnessista which classified me as match to her “Fitness Freak” Fit Guide. After a chuckle I realized I am the person who loves to try all the things fitness related. I love to take a new class or try a new DVD or the workout in a new magazine. Changing up my workouts and workout programs regularly is a need in my book. I thought it would be fun […]
